Howe Park Shooting Leaves Four People Injured in Arden-Arcade Sacramento

Sacramento County Sheriff's Office investigators are examining a shooting that erupted late Saturday at Howe Park in Sacramento at the moment deputies were dissolving an unsanctioned gathering of multiple hundreds of people.

What Led to the Shooting

Law enforcement were first called to the park just after 6:30 Saturday evening after receiving reports of subjects reportedly carrying hidden weapons. Shortly after, a second caller reported mentioning a possible fight breaking out at the location.

A sheriff's airship was sent to survey the area but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Even so, authorities discovered that an enormous crowd had packed into the park without permission.

The Shooting Itself

Deputies worked to disperse the crowd by forming a perimeter and using their vehicle PA systems telling attendees to leave immediately. Roughly 15 minutes were allotted for people to comply.

As the crowd was being cleared that upwards of 20 gunshots rang out. The barrage of gunfire sent hundreds fleeing. Law enforcement at once began locating gunshot victims.

The Shooting Victims

Ultimately, four shooting victims were discovered with shooting injuries. The victims — comprising three men and one woman all reportedly in their 20s — were taken check here to local Sacramento hospitals. Emergency physicians noted that two of the four had injuries classified as immediate, one victim's injuries were classified as moderate, and one suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.

Sacramento Metro Fire arrived on scene and provided medical assistance the injured prior to hospital transport.

Crime Scene Evidence

The main crime scene seemed to have occurred near the Cottage Way corridor next to the Home Depot store situated at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. Crime scene investigators found additional spent rounds throughout the Cottage Way area. Projectile impacts were discovered in the wrought iron fence alongside the Home Depot store. The physical evidence confirmed that at least one of the shooters had been discharging rounds toward the south from Cottage Way targeting the Home Depot store. The store itself was secured under a brief lockdown while law enforcement worked the area. Forensic investigators and law enforcement detectives stayed at the location well into the night.

Detainees in Solano County

Details gathered through law enforcement radio communications established that a Kia vehicle was pulled over in Solano County California. Four individuals were held for questioning. Law enforcement units were sent to retrieve the detainees to return them to Sacramento for further questioning. Video evidence established that two separate shooters participated in the incident.
